Season of Revival - a story about the reawakening of an ancient community - was a unique project as it simultaneously provided existing players with touching new experiences while entirely reworking Sky’s onboarding for new players. With two entirely different player demographics, with completely opposing needs, the challenge to successfully design a compelling experience was one of the most atypical I have yet to encounter.

How do you create an experience for someone who has never played this game before and someone who is an expert at the same time?

I worked with a (stunningly) talented team to create a story about a hopeful steward who finally awakens, the restoration of their village, and the re-connection of its tight-knit community. With an emphasis on inter-character relationships, world building, and simple quest design, this season ushered in a new era in the world of Sky.

My responsibilities this season included:

  • Design and development of the Season’s concept, gameplay, cinematics, interactions, and experience as co-lead designer

  • Design and development of new game onboarding

  • Design and development of new “Home” system with engineering team

  • Unite and lead a team of superheroes
